A little sad news today...

Miss Bella, the foster dog with 4 Luv of Dog Rescue that I run with jumped the 8ft fence in her foster parent's back yard yesterday. They were able to get her back but have decided they can not keep her anymore.. Bella is in boarding right now and needs a foster home! Bella has a ton of energy, but she is very sweet and needs someone who can give her the excersize she needs.

I Think I Might Actually be Crazy.

Bella

If you live in the area I live in chances are you've probably seen me before, but you probably don't remember. I'm not someone who stands out because I don't scream for attention and I'm very good at not tripping over things in public places (most of the time). But for about 30mins this last wednesday I was sure, if you saw me you'd remember me.

Have you ever tried to rollerblade through snow, ice, and slush well being pulled at a million miles per second by an excited black lab who is dead set on going through EVERY puddle she sees? Okay, well even though I may have exaggerated the speed a little... It's TONS of fun.

Maybe a little risky... Forget to jump over a clump of slush... and... I wouldn't know. (insert embaressed face here).
At least I didn't fall on my face...

ANYWAYS...
I call it AWESOME ROLLERBLADING! Mostly because I can't think of anything else right now... I'll get back to you. (i'm accepting suggestions)

So last week, I mentioned I helped with Bella (the black lab mix up for adoption with 4 Luv of dog) at Adoption days. Well, after seeing her with obviously way too much energy to handle all the excitment of new dogs and people I decided I should probably try and commit more time to make sure Bella gets excersize even though I'm usually dead tired by the time I get home and have a dog of my own to take care of. (why do I have to be such a good person?).

So, due to lack of time and energy and I decided that spring was here whether it looked like it or not and I was bringing out my rollerblades, ignoring the looks from my family, I went to take Bella out for a run.

First 15minutes? Holding on for dear life.

Apparently I held on well enough because I'm telling you about it, though I wont lie, while one half of me was having a ton of fun, the other half was saying "How stupid are you? Rollerblading? NOW? There's snow on the ground for goodness sakes!"

I ignored my sensible thoughts and swerved to avoid another puddle while Bella splashed through it anyways.

Here is Bella on the last 5minutes, the slowest she went the entire time. it's a bit dark out when I took the video so hopefully you can see it okay:

I want to end this post with a picture of my killer dog and me, though I hate pictures of me... I want people to understand a little better why I put up with him, because you don't see who he really is.

Charlie is cute

I admit, at the very end of this video I did yell "YES!"
I mean, I got a video of Charlie sneezing...

Stories

I enjoy stories about dogs, and I love dogs but sometimes I think I don't need to know every single story there is about a dog. My family is very enthusiastic with supporting things... often too much. I painted my room light blue and lime green, for my birthday and the next christmas I got light blue and lime green pillows, blankets, pillow covers, a chair, picture frames, a comforter, a notebook, pajamas, a dog collar... I painted my room over two years ago, i'm still getting blue and green things. For this Christmas I got a lime green phone case, and blue slippers... I still like blue and green, but this post isn't about the colors blue and green.

Whenever a new dog walks by my grandparent's house I hear about it. I feel like a stalker. A dog walker goes by my grandparent's house at least once a week with a different dog every time... I hear about every dog who wears a sweater, every dog who pees on their yard, and you can bet your last penny if a black and white dog walks by I hear "A dog that looks exactly like Charlie walked by today!" It doesn't matter if it is a Black and white Great Dane, if it's a Dalmation, or if it's an Chiuhaha. It doesn't matter if it is 150 or 10 pounds. It looks like Charlie if it's black and white.
I love my grandparents... but I don't need to know about every dog with a red collar.
I don't know if anybody else feels the same way as me... but it seems like if you have anything to do with a dog, people feel like they have to tell you every story they've ever had that involved a dog in any way.
There might be some stories you hear that will might help you reach your record yawns in a minute, but i'll end this post with a good one that a little old lady at a retirement home told me once.
She (I never learned her name) was driving her little scooter by the North Fargo Dog Park, walking her little shih tzu on the bike path, when in the trees she heard a noise. Her dog was excited by the noise and started to bark. At that moment a large turkey comes streaming out of the tree headed directly for her, and her little dog. The turkey reached them before the lady could figure out what to do, and began to attack the little dog. Grabbing her dog, and stuffing it into the kennel on her scooter the lady was able to get away. Fortunatly, the little dog was fine, and the lady got away with nothing more then a few marks marks on the arm where the turkey had gotten her.
I hope you have a Happy Valentines Day,
Jessi

Today I went to Adoption days with Bella. Bella is a black lab mix up for adoption with 4 luv of dog. She has tons of energy and would do best in a house with a runner, or at least someone to walk her everyday. She currently lives with two dogs and quite a few cats...

I also spent time with Baby, another black lab up for adoption. She was pretty calm even though there were a lot of people and dogs around.

Surprises

Charlie is so unpredictable...
Today Charlie and I went to the dog park with Lindsay and Ace, and Charlie did awesome. For the first time in a while a stranger was able to touch Charlie, and not be growled or snapped at. Of course I was running late so I didn't wear a hat and forgot my gloves. Don't worry though, Charlie had his sweater on, he was fine. (I know that's all you care about!)

I've always been proud of my dog because he gets along with every dog he's met but my best friends, of course. But today he just wasn't able to tolerate another dog at the dog park. Lindsay came because of his bad people skills (which he didn't really show today), but his amazing dog skills that i've always been proud of, failed. In Charlie's defense that dog was being obnoxious.

Anyways... After the dog park, and walk with Lindsay and Ace... I went to play Ice Tennis (yeah... Ice Tennis) with Robin. Then Charlie and I went to pick up some dog food. We went to Petsmart and on the car ride, Charlie saw a man wearing a very big coat with his giant fluffy hood and went insane. He went crazy, barking and jumping.. He just lost it.
Then my dad's friend came over to watch the superbowl (it's still happening right now but i'm not a football fan) and usually when he is muzzled he just gives up and sits there even when a stranger comes into the house. Today, though, he charged the guy and growled and did what I assume would be biting if he wasn't muzzled.

This is just one day and he surprised me. In good and bad ways.

Things like this make me wonder about how tomorrow is going to go... well Charlie has a LOTS of tomorrows left so it should be interesting! :)
