Charlie chasing snow:)

This was a couple weeks ago, Britney and Charlie have been getting along pretty well! (Britney is the one throwing snow) No petting yet, but maybe one day. Charlie isn't allowed to jump up like this normally but he was having a lot of fun chasing snow and I was laughing so hard I forgot to tell him no... oops. Enjoy!

Driving

This blog post is overall about driving but here are some of the more specific things i'm going to blog about.

1. Getting my license
2. Elderly people and driving

So to start the story of me getting my license I'll go all the way back to tuesday night, before I took the road test. My mom dropped me off at The Urban Plains Center  The Scheels Arena, for my hockey game, in the big red van I've been driving in since I got my permit. My dad met my mom at the rink and they decided to go to the store because there were still two hours before the game.

This is getting boring right? Well just wait.

As my parents were driving someone ran a stop sign and slammed right into the side of the big red van that I needed the following morning to take my driver's test. Now the only vehicle that I could use on the test that I've driven before was totalled. So my parents were okay, my dad who was in the passenger seat (the side that got hit) said he hurt a little bit but overall was fine even though 911 was called and both vehicles were totalled, everyone was okay.

So what am I supposed to do for my test? Sure we have this truck but who knows when this thing will fall apart? We also have my brother's car but the only car i've driven was manual transmission. Oh and we have this other little crappy manual transmission car that I can't drive very well.

Lucky for me when my hockey team's parents heard what happened the Blevins offered up their big red van. It was very different but still big and red which helped a lot. So the first time I ever drove it, I got my license. Now I get to drive that truck "that no one knows when it will just fall apart" to school! So a happy ending but I was seriously not happy on Tuesday night.

Portraits

I'm baaack! I know it's been a while but I didn't take any pictures of the dogs last week and I couldn't go this week because I had a photography assignment.

I needed to take portraits, I only got a couple to use but I will be taking more next weekend with my friend Carly for the presentation next Monday.
Today I hung out with Tirzah and her exchange student from Germany, Thien. It was really cold outside but we braved the temperatures then went inside and took a few more pictures. I think the pictures turned out pretty well, this was the first time my dad let me use his camera without him close by and he usually helps me with the settings on the camera.

A Little More About a Little Mutt

So you know I have a dog. You know he's 4-5 years old and you know that I got him from a rescue. What don't you know? First the bad.

What scares me the most is when you're little daughter in her pink frilly dress runs at Charlie yelling "Puppy! Puppy! Puppy!" Weeeelll, If you have a young daughter go to her now. Tell her that no matter how cute "puppies" are they should always ask the owner before they approach one. And tell them if the dog doesn't have an owner with them to stay away from that dog.
Charlie bites at strangers. He has more of a problem with older men and people wearing bulky clothing. He's getting better. At first he couldn't be around another person, now I have friends come over and as long as they don't reach down to pet him, Charlie will smell them and move on to more important things. A few of my friends even play fetch with him now.

Now just cause Charlie has an issue with strangers doesn't mean I want a different dog. In my opinion Charlie is the perfect dog.

Charlie is my dog. Not my mom's, dad's or brothers'. It says my mom adopted him but only because you have to be 18 to adopt a dog. otherwise I paid for him. My mom helps pay for food, and lets Charlie out to go potty when she gets home from work, but otherwise all the responsibilites are mine.

Charlie loves walks, rollerblading, biking, fetch, and going to the dog park.

Charlie hasn't had a problem with any dog and gets along great with all of them except one... Britney's dog Bleu. They just didn't get along.

Charlie's favorite holiday is thanksgiving. We go to the farm and he gets to run around with his big cousin Sarge (viszla) and a few other random lazier dogs all day and he gets to sleep on my lap on the way home. Charlie will not run away when you take his leash off unless there is a squirrel or rabbit and he sees them, but even then he always comes back.

Charlie:
is the cutest terrier mix in the world
is afraid of ducks
is not a fan of baths but doesn't complain too much
loves to play fetch
loves rawhides
is a cuddly dog
is photogenic

Did I mention adorable? Okay I might like my dog a little bit.
:)

Here's some pictures from this summer/fall when it was warmer out, I'll add some pictures of the rescue dogs on sunday if I can!

Thanks for visiting!

Candy & Charlie's photoshoot

Last night I told my mom not to hesitate to bring candy home, so my dad asked me what I wanted and I said skittles... Well Now I have a HUGE bag of skittles. So naturally I picked up this giant bag of brightly colored candies and I said... This would make a perfect picture! My dad let me try out his new camera for the first time so here's what I came up with. Surprisingly it doesn't take that long to group the skittles by color, but I was asked how long this took me and it seriously didn't take long. Oh and thanks for letting me use the candy dish mom, even though I have a bad history with carrying things made of glass... (sorry grocery store guy, if you're reading this I haven't carried a big jar of apple sauce since.)

Today Charlie was looking pretty cute (as always) so I decided to take some pictures of him. I didn't get to use the new camera today but I had a cute subject so it didn't really matter. I haven't edited or cropped any of these pictures and I don't have much to say about them, I just wanted to share them with you! Anyways, the Mentalist is on in like four minutes so I have to go watch it! Thanks for visiting!

Britney

Hi everybody, this is Jessi. My friend Britney is going to be joining the blog so you will see posts from her and from me!

She likes hockey and dogs also, so she'll probably be writing about similar things. She has a husky named Bleu and he's super lazy.

I look forward to seeing what she writes.

Me and Britney were trying to get Bleu to pull the sled but he couldn't quite do it so we went to the snow hill! someone was going down the hill with their little Corgi who would not stop barking. Fortunatly Bleu didn't talk back... much. Here's a video of Britney going down the hill with Bleu! She'd probably also like me to tell you that she isn't the one screaming in this video. :)

Before we went sledding we walked the dogs at the kennel. None of these dogs seemed to mind the snow much. Here's a few of the dogs I walked, they are all up for adoption with 4 Luv of Dog Rescue and you can read about ALL of them at http://www.4luvofdog.com/!
These pictures were all taken with my phone camera.

Update 2/19/11: Beyonce, Destiny, and Vinny and all in foster homes but they still need their forever homes!
Luna was adopted!
Gypsy still needs a foster/forever home.

Destiny and her brother and sister are all looking for homes! They're young black lab mix puppies. These are pictures of Destiny but Vinny and Beyonce are also waiting for their forever homes. The other two aren't, but destiny is a bit shy, but if you spend a little time with her she accepts you pretty quickly.

Luna is a husky, she is VERY small and likes to talk a lot. She has two blue eyes and is the cutest little husky.

Gypsy is my favorite dog at the kennel. She's been there the longest, with no foster home and as I walk different dogs every week Gypsy has always been there when all the others have come and gone. She THE most adorable dog earth with these eyes that can't really be captured in a picture or described. She's got lots of energy but she loves to cuddle. Gypsy really wants to find a home, she's waited too long!

These dogs all deserve a home so if you're thinking about getting a dog consider adopting. I have to go now, but don't worry, I'll be back!

Photography

If you've read my first blog post you'd already know I like to take pictures. My favorite ones to take aren't necessarily the best pictures, or ones that would draw other people's attention. I really love to take pictures of things I love because I have more fun taking the pictures.

Now you're looking at this picture and saying "She loves apples and snow?" Well... no. That's not exactly my point. I do like apples, and snow is fun sometimes but honestly I'd rather eat a candy bar and in nice, warm, sunny weather... But I have to admit I love how they look and the apple didn't make a big fuss about being outside in the snow.
(This is Shadow, a husky up for adoption. Go to http://www.4luvofdog.com/ to read more about this cutie!)
So not all my pictures are taken with good cameras.. This is one of my favorites because there was absolutely no planning in it at all and because I took it with the camera on my phone. I had just stopped and taken this picture. No treats, no planning, nothing and it surprised me. Of course, Shadow being adorable made the picture.
Charlie in the picture above will be on this blog often. He is my dog, though he still looks like a puppy he is probably around 4-5 years old. We adopted him almost two years ago and I've never met a smarter or cuter dog then him. A big plus is that he is quite photogenic:)

I'll be putting more pictures up tomorrow, but until then have a good night!
Jessi

Hello:)

My name is Jessi and I'd like to tell you a little about myself and this blog. I've never blogged before, but I wanted to share my pictures and stories for other people to enjoy.

First, a little warning about this blog: NOT FOR ENGLISH TEACHERS! This blog will not be edited, I will sit down and type how I feel at the moment then publish it for you all to see. There will NOT be perfect sentences or spelling. I enjoy reading other blogs, but honestly I'm absolutely sick of how edited and "perfect" they are. How can you tell how the person feels when 50 other people have looked at it and changed words, added little sentences, and taken things out. Is it even the author's work anymore? Don't misunderstand me, I love a lot of those "perfect" blogs I just need a break from them, and maybe you do too. That's why I'm starting this blog.

I love taking pictures and obviously my favorite subjects have four legs, because you just can't predict what they will do, and they always look cute.

I volunteer for 4 Luv of Dog Rescue to walk and run the dogs at the kennel who are waiting for their forever home.
(the dog at the left is up for adoption if you're training for a marathon and need a partner she's got tons of energy. http://www.4luvofdog.com/)

This is a short post, but I'm just starting out and I hope my blogs improve as I continue. Feel free to suggest things for me to blog about.

Thanks for reading!

Jessi
